Claire fled from domestic violence and was brought to emergency accommodation by the police. She didn’t even have her shoes on when she escaped, just the clothes on her back.

Everything she owned was in her former home and she couldn’t return to collect her belongings. Claire was very distressed. St Basils made an application to Change into Action for some funding to help Claire. The money was made available immediately and St Basils could take Claire shopping for new underwear, clothing and shoes. This also gave St Basils more time to speak to the police and liaise with them to try and get Claire’s belongings back.

St Basils said: “This was a small amount of money but it helped in a big way as it meant we could support Claire with things that she needed in that moment in time. She stayed with us for over a month and then we moved her out of the area to somewhere safe.”
