About Change into Action - the network that is hard at work

Change into Action is an alternative giving scheme supporting specialist charities and street teams working to change the circumstances of rough sleepers.

Change into Action is a partnership between Birmingham City Council, the Mayor of the West Midlands and the West Midlands Combined Authority aimed at addressing rough sleeping. All donations are kindly received and held by Birmingham Voluntary Services Council (BVSC) before being assigned to individual needs.

Some of the heroes behind the scenes

Without a network of specialist street teams and dedicated charities, it is difficult for any help to make long term changes. Here are just some of the heroes behind the scenes and the work they do.

St Basils

St Basils works with young people aged 16-25 who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, helping over 5000 young people every year.

SIFA Fireside

Works with vulnerable adults experiencing homelessness or who are vulnerably housed, providing daily drop-in services, meals, showers and clothes.

Trident Group

Trident Group has almost 60 years’ experience of delivering homes, services and innovation for up to 8,000 people in almost 4,000 homes in some of the most disadvantaged communities in the Midlands. They provide the street-based outreach service in Birmingham and coordinate a multi-disciplinary team working to support and accommodate all rough sleepers in the city.

Crisis Skylight Birmingham

Crisis Skylight Birmingham provides services that aim to end individuals’ homelessness. Their delivery model is largely outreach, working with partners at their venues and community locations; coupled with some small delivery onsite at their base in Digbeth. Staff specialise in housing and employment support, removing barriers that are preventing a route out of homelessness

West Midlands Police

West Midlands Police is the second largest police force in the country, covering an area of 348 square miles and serving a population of almost 2.8 million. Preventing crime, protecting the public and helping those in need is their vision.

A leading housing organisation, delivering homes and services across the Midlands that enable people to live independently.

Birmingham Voluntary Services Council (BVSC)

Birmingham Voluntary Services Council exists to help people build and benefit from a fair and equitable Birmingham. They work to create an environment where organisations and community groups can pursue their aims and thrive. They achieve this by providing practical support, demonstrating strong leadership and by forging alliances with key strategic partners across the city.
